The new heel cup is not that much to talk about, if I have to heel hook on a route or problem, I just lace up really tight and my heel never slipped out of the shoe. They feel like my old Katanas (just size down 1,0 or even 1,5 sizes!) So for sports climbing the Katanas provide good stability and work really well with a lot of comfort (for my feet anyway). The Katanas are made much more robust, weigh more and got a lot more material on them. They "feel like shoes" on my feet, whereas my BD Methods feel like slippers or rubber socks even. As many climbers now know, the new Katanas are sized differently due to the newly designed heel cup. The first pair I bought were the "mens" version in yellow in 41,5. My first climbing shoes were the Tarantula in 42, then the old Katana laces (2x) in 41,5. Women's Climbing Shoes: Mountain, Rocks, Bouldering & Indoor.
